Teacher Professional Development

Professional development is one of the cornerstones of a teacher's working life. Professional development strengthens your knowledge base and supports your commitment to effective teaching and learning. It allows you to build and refresh your skills and to actively participate in your career development. You should have access to, and engage in, high quality professional development for the whole of your teaching career.

In recognition of the importance of ongoing professional development, most professional bodies such as the New South Wales Institute of Teachers require that teachers engage in ongoing professional development to maintain their teacher registration in their state.

In the past Avondale has offered professional development and in-service programs in philosophy of Christian education, teacher effectiveness, science and technology education, literacy, information and communication technologies, religious education, human society and its environment, and mathematics education.
